Christmas activities

It's Christmas time, so we have to practise our English by doing Christmas activities on the web. For instance: doing vocabulary exercises, listening to carols, reading stories or playing games. We can learn while having fun!

On the Internet there are a great variety of Christmas activities. Go to Google and look for them!

Have you ever been to London?

 As the second and third cycle students are working on the project "Let's go travelling", the first cycle students are doing something related to London as well. 

I am showing them some photos of me in London last February. Then, they can learn some cultural aspects such as important monuments and places, typical food and other interesting things.

 


After that, the students use Google Images to look for photos of Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, a red bus, a black taxi, the Queen Guards and a telephone box.

Using a mouse

The very young learners need some practice to use the mouse and move the cursor well. That is why they did a colouring activity on www.boowakwala.com

As it is autunm, they painted some mushrooms by selecting a colour and moving the cursor from the paints to the picture.

Online activities to practise English

This week we are doing online activities to practise our listening and reading skills, grammar and review some vocabulary.

We have a great variaty of activities on Oxford- Surprise! and Angles365.

There are a lot of useful websites to learn English and have fun at the same time. Keep on working!

What can we do on Google?

We can use GOOGLE to search for information, websites, videos, music and images. Furthermore, it has some other tools that may be useful such as: Maps; Play to find games, books and films; News from all over the world, Youtube with lots of videos, Calendar to have our planning, Translator and Blogger. The latter is an application to create blogs! I used it to create this blog and "English is fun!!".

The students suffered on the blog to read the information, look at the photos, watch the videos, go to the links and do activities and so on.

  They liked it so much!

Talking about Halloween

After having done projects and Powerpoint presentations, the students talked about Halloween.

Halloween Projects

The third cycle boys and girls had to do a project about Halloween. They were expected to searched for information on the Internet about the festivity, some ideas to celebrate it, examples of costumes and a Halloween rhyme or song. Then, they had to explain it orally to the other classmates.

As soon as possible, you will be able to watch a video of a boy explaining his project!

Powerpoint presentations about Halloween vocabulary

The primary students did a Powerpoint presentation with Halloween words and pictures!
The second cycle pupils did it individually, however, for the younger children it was a whole group activity with the teacher's help. They chose the pictures, said the sentences and chose the colour for the text. Now you can see their presentations:

Moreover, in the next session the second level girls and boys worked in pairs to do a Powerpoint presentation!

Videos to develope our digital and linguistic competence

The three-year-old children used the computers for the first time! They enjoyed themselves watching a video of Pocoyo in English from Youtube! They did really love it!

The four and five year olds also watched some videos of songs and chants. This is an easy way to practise the listening skills and learn English vocabulary.

The older boys and girls listened to Halloween songs and watched videos from Youtube. Their favourite song is THE SKELETON DANCE

Halloween on the Internet

From first to fourth level of Primary, the children are using "Mozilla Firefox" and "Google" to search for Halloween games and activities, Halloween songs and Halloween stories for children.

The third cycle students are doing a project about Halloween: they have to search for information about the festivity, some ideas to celebrate it, examples of costumes and a rhyme or a Halloween song. After that, they will have to explain all orally in English!

The ICT classes started the first week of October. The students introduced themselves to me, we discussed the classroom rules and they did the first activities.

The three year olds had fun with the computers! They watched videos  adapted to their level and practised

The four year olds and the five-year-old children used the mouse and painted a picture with TuxPaint. I gave them some ideas. Then, they used their imagination and creativity.

They used different backgrounds,
painted, drew colourful lines and
inserted small pictures and shapes.


We use any situation to learn vocabulary and speak in English! 


The Primary students did a document with Microsoft Word 2003 with their personal information, adapted to their English level. They did a great job!!
